WATERSPORTS
SAILING If sailing is more your thing then the beautiful marinas in Lagos are the places for you. If you fancy a slightly tougher challenge, why not venture out a little further to the high seas off the coast of Lagos, Sagres and Praia da Rocha.
DIVING With the seas along the Algarve coast so crystal-clear and clean, the visibility under the water is remarkably high, providing the most ideal diving conditions. The most well-known spots for diving are the waters off Lagos, Sagres and Quarteira, but all along the coast you will find a breathtaking array of marine life and clearly marked archaeological remains from the Algarve’s history.
SURFING & BODYBOARDING The southwestern Algarve is a surfing destination unrivalled anywhere in Europe and unique in the way that it will give you a genuine taste of surfing lifestyle. Wave size and quality range from average to epic, with an assortment of reefs and beach breaks. The beauty of this corner of the world is the variety of its waves, which will suit everyone’s standard, and their constancy throughout the year. Waves break both on the Southern and Western coasts, and are all within a maximum thirty minute drive from our villa. The surf itself is surrounded by wide and breathtaking scenery, with steep reddish cliffs, wide sandy beaches and no real estate developments or seaside resorts in sight. The whole area is protected and forms part of the natural park. The access to the beaches is by dirt tracks twisting through spectacular scenery. There are beaches in Vila do Bispo and Lagos providing surf tours, lessons and all the equipment needed for surfing and bodyboarding
FISHINGUnsurprisingly, one of the favourite hobbies of both the local people and those visiting these parts is to pick up a fishing rod and head out to the rocks and cliffs that can be found all along this long coastline. And it is a pastime that frequently provides the very best of dinners. However, it is for its big game fishing that the Algarve is perhaps best known. The water around the Sagres Peninsula is among the best in Europe for the fishing of various species including Blue Shark, Hake, Swordfish, Tuna, White Bream and Croaker. Lagos in particular is a great hub of fishing activity, for it is easy to rent boats here, either by the day or half day, complete with fishing chairs and all the respective equipment.
OTHER ATTRACTIONSFor those occasions when you feel like getting away from the routine of the beach, the Algarve has non-stopentertainment to offer you and your family.

DOLPHIN SEAFARIS Try dolphing watching on Europe’s biggest, safest and most powerful rigid inflatable passenger boat. Dolphin Watching is one of the most exhilarating experiences that many of us will have in our lifetime. Sadly, most people only ever get to see the dolphin in captivity but Dolphin Seafaris provide tourists to the Algarve, the opportunity to see the dolphin in its natural environment and also other forms of Algarvian sea life such as whales, sharks and even orcas. Each safari lasts around 1 and a half hours and offers a spectacular sea view of the world famous Algarvian coast. An incredible experience for the entire family, one not to be missed! Tours start from Lagos Marina.
BEACHESWith over 300 days of sunshine in the Algarve you can see why the emphasis is on outdoor living. The beaches around Lagos are some of the most
beautiful of the Algarve. These vary from secluded coves with amazing cliffs to vast stretches of golden sand all sea washed by the fresh and clear Atlantic Ocean. Here are just 4 of our favourites:
MEIA PRAIA Meia Praia Beach has a wide sandy area of around 4km, with various bars and restaurants along the length of the beach. Never crowded and within easy reach from our villa.
PRAIA DA LUZ A gently shelving beach, with soft golden sands. The beach has it’s own Blue Flag as well as full time professional lifeguards on duty all the time. It is great for all kinds of water sports. Occasionally the Atlantic Rollers come in and it’s time to grab your bodyboard or surfboard and have some serious fun !! Apparently the ‘surf dudes’ here say that there’s a fairly good break just of the Black Rock itself, definitely worth a look when the swells are right.
PRAIA DONA ANA The Dona Ana Beach is situated in between golden rocky cliffs. This is a good spot for diving and observing the beautiful sea fauna and flora. The access to this beach is made through a long and inclined stairway.
PORTO DE MOS The Porto de Mós Beach has an extensive golden sandy area located in between high cliffs.
